ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL WIN FOR IDAHO
Since the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, Chairman Crapo has been highlighting the legislation’s important benefits for Idahoans.
Recently, he joined Idaho Local News 8 to talk about how the bill made sure Idahoans will not be hit with a huge tax hike next year, provides new tax relief and makes the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent:
The Trump tax cuts supercharged capital formation in the United States. What that means is it generated not just economic growth, but more jobs, higher wages, more benefits and lower unemployment.
He also discussed efforts to control federal spending by addressing waste, fraud and abuse in Medicaid:
We have taken big steps to take this waste, fraud, and abuse out of the Medicaid system without harming the benefits of those for whom it was intended. And we are moving forward now to do the rest of the work to try to bring our national debt under control.
Crapo also highlighted the benefits for rural hospitals in the One Big Beautiful Bill in a Magic Valley Times-News opinion piece:
Idaho’s rural hospitals will benefit from a new Rural Health Transformation Program that allocates money to all states. This $50 billion rural hospital fund is available to all states and 50 percent will be divided equally among states. This means Idaho stands to gain at least $100 million per year for five years. . . . This is arguably the single largest investment in rural health care in more than 20 years.

In an interview with KBOI Idaho’s Nate Shelman, Senator Crapo discussed how the reforms to Medicaid simply require able-bodied adults to meet basic work requirements, explaining:
The work requirement that we put forward is 20 hours a week, and that can also be met through public service or getting an education.
The Idaho Capital Sun also reported:
Sen. Mike Crapo . . . said “the attack that people are going to be forced off of Medicaid is not correct.” Crapo said there’s been a lot of inaccurate information about the bill’s Medicaid cuts.
With other false claims continuing to circulate about the One Big Beautiful Bill, Senator Crapo penned a column in the Lewiston Tribune to push back on misleading narratives, from explaining how the bill will help working class Americans the most, to how it makes the largest investment in rural hospitals in decades. I continue to maintain extending pro-growth tax policy, delivering targeted tax relief for middle-class families and workers, and reining in wasteful spending is the best way to restore economic prosperity and opportunity for Idahoans, and this law takes necessary and overdue steps to do just that.
Between votes in the Capitol, Senator Crapo joined Senator James Lankford (R-Oklahoma) to discuss the law’s historic savings and Senator Bill Cassidy (R-Louisiana) to talk about how the law makes it easier and more affordable for Americans to get a world-class education.
