Many women my age don't think too much about their health. At least I don't. My focus has been on work, paying student loans, and building a life with my boyfriend.
But recently I've had a scare. And if you're also between the ages of 20 and 25, it could happen to you too. I was getting aches and pains on my right-side, mainly in the hip area. I was also experiencing horrible migraines. At first I thought I was working out wrong and stress, but they continued.
In October, I went to my doctor for a wellness check. She looked me completely over, said I looked okay, but she was going to send some samples to the lab to make sure.
In November, I received a call from my doctor about my results being abnormal. And how my cells may be pre-cancerous in my cervix, but she wanted to make sure through a biopsy.
Earlier this month, I went in for my biopsy. The surgeon said that the cells looked like a level two. Basically, doctors rate your pre-cancer cells levels 1-4. 4 being you have cancer, 1 being you don't. The surgeon took more samples to test and make sure they are a level two so they can begin fighting it.
If you have pre-cancer it's nothing to worry about. They have caught it early. Everyone has pre-cancer cells in their body, it's just about if your immune system can fight those off before they turn into tumors. So, if I was still a level two, I would just go in for back up tests every 6 months.
My results however, came back as a level 3, which means I have to have surgery, which is scheduled to next week.
What I have learned from this whole thing though, is if you're not feeling well go to the doctor. There are ways to prevent it, eat healthy, exercise, and just live life happy, try not to stress as much. If it happens, it happens, just be happy they caught it early.
