Riley Named Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week
Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week ran for career-high 206 yards in win over Memphis
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State junior Dylan Riley was named Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week for the first time in his career. Riley ran for a career-high 206 yards in the Broncos’ 38-20 win over Memphis, leading the Blue and Orange to a comeback victory in the home opener.
Riley carried the ball 19 times, averaging 10.8 yards per carry, his second-highest single-game average when rushing more than 10 times. He had a long rush of 71 yards, Boise State’s longest scrimmage play of the season. The Rancho Verde HS product totaled 125 yards after contact and nine missed tackles forced, according to Pro Football Focus. Riley tallied 134 yards in the first half en route to the second 200-yard rushing effort of his career. He is the eighth player in program history to record multiple 200-yard rushing games.
This is the first time a Bronco has secured Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week since Nov. 12, 2024, when Ashton Jeanty picked up his fourth honor of the season. That season, Jeanty became the first Boise State player to win the Doak Walker Award. With this week’s honor, Riley joins the list of candidates for the 37th Doak Walker Award.
Boise State is back in Albertsons Stadium on September 19, meeting South Dakota for a nonconference contest. The Broncos host the Coyotes on The Blue at 8 p.m. The game will be televised on CBS Sports.
