I went camping, hunting, and shooting over the weekend. I had traveled to Blue Lake which is near Cascade. And although it's early October and the sun isn't shining, I figured I should get one more good camping trip in. The place was absolutely beautiful and at nighttime the stars reflecting off of the lake were gorgeous. The next morning, there was frost stuck to the entire tent and ice covered the ground. Overall the trip was excellent.
On October 8th, I had the worst day of my life. My dog, Lucky, had to be put down. She was almost 15-years-old and had very bad dementia. My family got Lucky when I was about 10-years-old. I took her on walks almost everyday until her legs started to go out. She didn't like to run, but really enjoyed walking especially on the Greenbelt. Most people avoided petting her because she was a chow mix but she wouldn't hurt a fly. On that day I walked into the hospital with a heavy heart. The vet hadn't even finished putting the medicine in and Lucky was gone. But I held her head through the entire experience. Lucky will forever be missed.
And October 9th, I celebrated my idol's birthday. John Lennon turned 73-years-old. I always celebrate his birthday, just this year it wasn't as much fun because of what happened the day before. However, Lennon knows that I will always look up to him as an artist and activist. Plus, there is always next year.
