A long-time Nampa shopping destination could soon have a new grocery retailer.
Work is being done at District 208, formerly the Karcher Shopping Mall, for a new Natural Grocers at 1509 Caldwell Blvd., according to records filed with the City of Nampa.
Natural Grocers is a Laketon, Colorado-based company offering 100% organic produce, as well as dairy, meat, seafood, and other items. The company has four Idaho stores, including one in Boise, and owns over 170 stores in 22 states.
The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the Nampa store’s offerings.
It was not immediately clear exactly which space the grocer would occupy at District 208. A note in the permit file says the work will include “shell improvements” for a Natural Grocers and mentions interior demolition, overbuild, new HVAC, and utility work “to coordinate w/ future tenant demand.”
It also mentions that a certificate of occupancy will come in a separate tenant improvement application.
The status of the application currently says, “corrections pending.”
The City of Nampa did not provide an answer about which space the store is planned for.
Nampa Mayor Darl Bruner said a grocery store was planned for District 208 during his State of the City Address on October 22, saying an announcement would be made toward the end of the year.
