Travelers coming down Highway 55 will still have to drive a little farther for their $1.50 hot dog and bulk toilet paper.
Costco has pulled its application for a new warehouse in Eagle. The wholesaler had previously planned a new location at Highway 55 and Hill Rd., as BoiseDev reported.
City of Eagle Public Information Officer Laura Williams confirmed the news to BoiseDev Monday morning.
“They will not be pursuing a Costco in that location, at least,” Williams said. “We’ll see what they do in the future. But they’ve not informed us of any future plans in Eagle at this time.”
The move follows weeks of conjecture on social media about the warehouse’s status.
BoiseDev reported in August that the project was on hold as the city was waiting on Costco to request a public hearing date.

Meanwhile, Costco is readying its newest store in South Meridian for its Nov. 5 grand opening, as BoiseDev reported. The store is planned to be one of the larger Costcos in the world from a square-footage standpoint, but this is largely due to a back-of-the-house fulfillment center used to help deliver large orders to customers.
Costco does not comment on future Costco warehouses until two to three months before a new location opens.
