Controller Woolf Announces August as Idaho Transparency Month
Boise, Idaho — Idaho State Controller Brandon D Woolf today announced the designation of August 2026 as Idaho Transparency Month, a statewide initiative celebrating Idaho’s longstanding commitment to open government while highlighting the tools and resources that empower Idahoans to better understand how their government operates.
For more than a decade, Idaho has been recognized as a national leader in government transparency. The Idaho State Controller’s Office continues to lead the way by providing citizens with unprecedented access to public financial information, government spending, local government data, statewide agreements, public meetings, and state financial reports through innovative online resources such as Transparent Idaho.
“Transparency is more than simply publishing information. It’s about moving Idaho forward with clarity, stewardship, and transparency,” said Controller Woolf. “Since first taking office, I’ve operated under one simple principle, public information should be open and accessible to all Idahoans. That belief has guided our work for more than a decade and continues to shape how we serve the people of Idaho every day.”
Throughout August, the Office of the State Controller will feature stakeholder discussions, “Did You Know” transparency tips, and a unique “Man-on-the-Street” outreach to hear directly from Idahoans on their attitudes towards government transparency. The month-long initiative will showcase the state’s nationally recognized transparency platforms, including Transparent Idaho and Townhall Idaho, while providing practical information on how Idahoans can explore public spending, financial reports, local government information, and public meetings.
Controller Woolf continued, “At a time when trust in government is under increasing pressure, transparency has never been more important. When government information is easy to find, easy to understand, and available to everyone, citizens are better equipped to participate in their communities and hold government accountable. Transparency isn’t about checking a box. It’s about earning and maintaining the public’s trust.”
The initiative will also highlight Idaho’s continued investment in modernizing public access to government information and improving the usability of transparency resources, ensuring Idaho remains at the forefront of open government.
