Tough Day

Today, I became “the kid who threw his mom in a nursing home”. I signed the contract as my parent’s power of attorney. I could list the medical issues my mom has and run out of blog space. How as she being 80, and my dad on the cusp of turning 85, this is the best move for her.

Instead, I looked at the calendar. I realized this Sunday is Mother’s Day and my dad’s birthday. I remember I told my parents that when the time came, I’d do everything in my power to keep them out of a place like that. Since I left Cleveland, she’s been in and out of the hospital 3 times.

I’ve told myself this is the best for her and my dad. I just wonder if there’s something else I could have done.
