Bye Bye

This is the first of two bye weeks for the Boise State football team. The bye comes at a good time for BSU as they lost two of their first five games. The Broncs young defense needs the extra week to go back to fundamentals, and sharpen up their defense against the pass across the middle. The offense needs to heal up four injured receivers, and work on scoring in their first couple of drives of each game.

There is no doubt next week's game against Utah State is a defining game for the young season. Utah State has emerged as the main challenge to BSU in the Mountain West Mountain division. They would like nothing more than to force a probable rematch with the Fresno State Bulldogs for the conference championship in December. Boise's only two losses have come to ranked and undefeated teams on the road,

Bye weeks are celebrated by those of us who cover the Broncos as well. Friday night I will be taking my wife out to dinner. Might take the motorhome to the mountains for an overnighter, and I will not be up at seven Saturday morning to watch Game Day on ESPN. I love covering college football, but one of my favorite things is enjoying the Bye week.
