FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, July 6th 2026
Meridian Fire Responds to Residential Structure Fire MERIDIAN- On July 5, just after 2:00 a.m., Meridian Fire crews responded to a reported exterior fire at a home in the 4800 block of Grand Rapids Drive.
Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a fire on the exterior of the residence and quickly brought it under control, preventing it from spreading into the interior of the home.
The fire was caused by improperly disposed fireworks that were placed in a trash can next to the home.
Even after fireworks appear to be extinguished, they can retain enough heat to reignite hours later. Residents are reminded to fully soak all used fireworks in water, allow them to cool completely, and dispose of them only after they are no longer capable of producing heat. Taking these simple steps can help prevent fires and protect homes and neighborhoods.
There were no injuries to residents, pets, or responding personnel.
We appreciate the assistance of Eagle Fire Department and Meridian Police Department during this incident.
