CITY OF MERIDIAN SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR SOLID WASTE ADVISORY AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONS
MERIDIAN – The City of Meridian is seeking applications from Meridian citizens and industry experts interested in serving on the Solid Waste Advisory and Transportation Commissions. Candidates must submit applications by Friday, July 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Eligible applicants must live in the City of Meridian or in the City’s area of impact. The preferred candidates will be appointed by Mayor Simison and confirmed by the City Council and will serve a three-year term.
The Solid Waste Advisory Commission advises the Mayor and Meridian City Council on issues related to solid waste management and the recycling program. The Commission meetings are held at 4:00 pm on the fourth Wednesday of each month, in the Council Chambers at Meridian City Hall. Members typically serve 1 to 10 hours per month.
The Transportation Commission discusses transportation planning and project development relating to roads, transit corridors, bike lanes, sidewalks, pathways, and lighting. Commission meetings are held at 3:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, in the Council Chambers at Meridian City Hall.
City commissions play a vital role in determining the future of the community. Their efforts are crucial as they provide necessary input and assist the city with information gathering and deliberative processes.
