Idaho law enforcement agencies begin crack down on distracted driving

This is a good week to make sure you put your phone down when you are driving.

Idaho State Police say they are joining dozens of other Idaho law enforcement agencies in a statewide effort to remind you of the dangers of distracted driving.

It’s and effort the will be continuing through April 30th, extra ISP patrols will be on the road to enforce Idaho’s distracted driving laws, particularly Idaho’s law that prohibits driving while using a cell phone.

Idaho’s new distracted driving law went into effect in July and citations are now allowed for violators.

The law forbids drivers from using a cell phone or other electronic device at any time while their vehicle is in operation, even when stopped at a red light.
