I want to thank Boise Fire and all the inter-agency partners that have shown up this week to protect our residents as the Claremont Fire has swept through our Foothills. These crews have been working around the clock in extreme heat and hazardous conditions to keep our community safe. I’m truly grateful for their dedication.
While the cause of the Claremont Fire is still under investigation, there are things each of us can do to keep our hills, homes and families safe. As wildfire season continues, please recreate responsibly in the foothills: never park a hot car over dry grass, avoid dragging trailer chains on the ground, pack out trash and debris, refrain from smoking, and respect trails and roads closures put in place for public safety.
This is also a reminder to make sure that you know how to stay informed about fire conditions and be prepared to evacuate if directed by emergency officials.
The City of Boise’s “Ready Set Go!” program outlines the steps community members can take to be prepared to respond to an emergency, especially if you live in a home that is at a higher risk of being impacted by wildfires.
I also encourage you to re-sign up for Ada Alert, the county’s new emergency notification system (replacing CodeRed) to receive timely updates and evacuation notices.
Our community is safest when we look out for one another and work together to protect this place that we love. Thank you for staying informed, doing your part to reduce wildfire risk, and supporting our first responders who keep Boise safe.
