Idaho Department of Health and Welfare says nine people in Idaho have Monkeypox

So far, nine people in Idaho have gotten monkeypox.

To date, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has received about 1,000 vaccine doses with more on the way next week.

At the same time, the state has expanded eligibility for the vaccine beyond post-exposure contacts to include people at high risk.

Eight of the nine Idaho cases are people who have tested positive live within the central district, which includes Ada County.

Anyone can get monkeypox, but nearly all of the cases in this outbreak have been among gay and bisexual men.

Health and Welfare says they’ll be able to order about another 1,000 doses next week.
