Worst drought ever recorded in the Wood River Valley

The Wood River Valley is in desperate need of rain.

In town, Ketchum mayor Neil Bradshaw says the city has yet to enact any water restrictions but asked that people be judicious in their use of water.

CBS2 reports the city of Ketchum is currently in a Level 5 or “Exceptional Drought,’ and has banned irrigation between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Bradshaw said this year’s drought is the worst ever recorded in the Wood River Valley.

Only 1/10 of an inch of precipitation has fallen in June.

The mayor said he is also proposing an emergency ordinance to ban fireworks throughout the summer to minimize the risk of fires.
