Boise woman dies following 9-car crash on I-84

Following up on a story we brought you last week, the 9-car collision that blocked much of I-84 through Boise last Tuesday has turned fatal.

A Boise woman who was critically injured in the nine-car collision on I-84 has died.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the 27-year-old woman as Julia Goodwin.

Idaho State Police believe the crash started after the driver of a Toyota Tacoma made a sudden lane change, hitting a semi-truck loaded with 65,000 pounds of lumber. It quickly caught on fire.

Troopers said the semi sideswiped an eastbound vehicle before crashing through the concrete median and hit a westbound semi that jack-knifed.

CBS2 reports the Boise woman was hit by debris. She was the only one with life-threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
