Former Boise State baseball coach Gary Van Tol will return for his second stint as the manager of the Boise Hawks.

The Boise Hawks announced Tuesday that Van Tol would return – following 10 years he spent with the club when it was affiliated with the Chicago Cubs. During that time, he led the Hawks to the league championship game in 2013 and the semifinals in 2014.

The Hawks recently joined the nine-team Pioneer League, an independent MLB “partner league,” following the Hawks losing their spot in the Northwest League. They are also no longer aligned with an MLB Franchise.

Van Tol, who has lived in Boise since 2008, called the opportunity to return to the Hawks a privilege.
