Meridian hosts 15th annual Recovery Day Celebration

The Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition, along with Mayor Simison invite residents to join the 15th annual Recovery Day Celebration, recognizing September as National Recovery Month. With additional precautions to ensure everyone’s safety during COVID-19, this free celebration will be virtual and take place on Thursday, September 24, 8:00AM – 9:00AM.

“Now more than ever, it’s important we come together to support one another,” said Meridian-Anti Drug Coalition Director Kendall Nagy, “Although we are celebrating virtually this year, we are still taking a moment to pause and show support for those who are putting in the daily work to fight addiction and celebrating those within recovery.”

In honor of the perseverance and determination it takes through the recovery journey, those participating in the virtual celebration will hear from guest speaker Jennifer C. who is in long-term recovery from drug addiction. Jennifer is dedicating her life to sharing her story of trauma and addiction in hopes her experience can bring strength and courage to those suffering depression, anxiety and addiction.

”Our community is made up of incredible people, each with their own struggles, successes, and stories to tell,” said Mayor Robert Simison, “It’s important that we listen and learn from their struggles to help others, and celebrate the successes of individuals and families that come when people are in recovery. Meridian’s Recovery Celebration is a great place to do just that.”
