Hot Pepper Eating Contest Coming to the Nampa Farmers Market

Hot Pepper Eating Contest Coming to
the Nampa Farmers Market September 14
Winner to take home $250.00

Fans of super hot, taste-bud torturing hot peppers have the opportunity to test their capsaicin tolerance at the Nampa Farmers Market on Saturday, September 14.

Registration is available online at nampafarmersmarket.com

Contestants will be lined up and given a succession of hot peppers starting with relatively mild peppers like the Jalapeno (3500-8000 Scoville Units) and Serrano (8000-23,000 Scoville Units) progressing to Habanero (200,000 – 350,000 Scoville Units), Ghost Pepper (1,000000 Scoville Units) and even hotter. (if it gets that far!)

Contestants must eat the entire pepper, holding up the bare stem when they are done.
The winner will be the person to eat the hottest pepper without quitting.

Contestants will be armed with a glass of milk should the peppers get hot enough that they quit.

The winner will be given a $250.00 prize and a bottle of Tums.

Each entrant receives a commemorative T-Shirt.

To enter, visit the Nampa Farmers Market Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. There is a $20.00 entry fee.

The contest is expected to start around 11:30 AM.
