Lewiston (670 KBOI News) – In the midst of the national outbreak which is several months old, Idaho has its first confirmed case of the measles.
It’s the first case of the measles in Idaho since 2001.
According to a press release from the North Central District Health Department, a patient tested positive for the measles on May 31st…the release didn’t say where the patient may have contracted it.
The patient was in the Gritman Medical Center’s lab and waiting room from 11:00 am til 2:30 that afternoon, so anyone who may have been in those areas at that time may have been exposed.
Health authorities say if you develop fever or unexpected rash, you should check with your doctor. While those who have been vaccinated in past are probably still immune, again, the release advises you to check with your doctor.
The release advises the best way to prevent measles is to be vaccinated.
