Neighborhood Grants Announced, Will Fund 21 Projects

Boise (670 KBOI News) – The City of Boise will spend $808,000 on capital projects across the town, as part of the Energize Our Neighborhoods initiative.

City Spokesman Mike Journee says they award the Neighborhood Investment Grants every year.

“To fund capital projects in their neighborhoods, for them to create better communities, to create better awareness of their neighborhood, to create better livability,” said Journee.  “So they can use this money for a number of different things.  They apply as a neighborhood association, and then the projects are selected.”

21 projects in 15 neighborhoods will be funded, including walking paths and a picnic shelter for Fairmont Park in the West Bench neighborhood…that’s where City held a press event to announce this year’s grants.

In all, the city will spend $808,000 on the projects, which is an increase from the $400-500,000 per year the City has previously spent.
