Police in Meridian are currently investigating the shooting of a dog and it’s owner.
The Police Department says on Saturday afternoon a woman was walking her Pit Bull, when it got free from her and attacked another dog and it’s owner.
The dog owners briefly separated the animals, but when the Pit Bull got away from it’s owner and attacked a second time, the other owner pulled a gun and fired.
The shot killed the animal, but also struck the owner as she was attempting to separate the dogs.
Meridian Police say the woman was taken to a local hospital and is recovering.
At this time, no charges have been filed, and the names of both parties have not been released.
