What Is Enough?

I have a rule: Off air means off record.

That being said, I had an interesting discussion with someone regarding why marijuana should remain illegal for recreational use in Idaho. Their simple reasoning, which I've heard before, "We can't handle the legal drugs we have now. Why introduce another?"

Makes sense to a point. People currently place others at risk driving under the influence of alcohol, prescriprion and / or over the counter drugs now. People become addicted to these substances. These substances have ruined personal potential and families. Tobacco use related illnesses have done the same.

My response:

Anyone can become addicted to anything they choose. Prohibition didn't stop alcohol consumption, it created a money market for organized crime.

Their response:

If the illegal drug line is moved back beyond marijuana, where does it stop? Should the line exist at all?

I'm still thinking of my response to that…
