Nevada, UNR, Nevada-Reno; Whatever, lets beat them all.

Nevada, UNR, Nevada-Reno; Whatever, lets beat them all.

I like the way Idaho has named its institutions of higher learning.  There are four four-year colleges or universities, and each has a unique name.  The one in Moscow is called the University of Idaho.  The one in Pocatello is called Idaho State University.  The one in Boise is called Boise State University.  And the…MORE

Wyoming memories

Wyoming memories

Boise State today plays the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Josh Allen, who last year was Wyoming’s quarterback, is now with the Buffalo Bills in the NFL and is by most accounts is doing very well. I like Wyoming. Despite it bordering Idaho, I’ve only been to Wyoming four times. Three of those were trips…MORE

BSU v OSU = A Family Rivalry

BSU v OSU = A Family Rivalry

I have a sister-in-law named Tami who lives in Tennessee.  She graduated from Oklahoma State University in the 1980’s, and this is why Boise State, my alma mater, must defeat Oklahoma State this weekend in football.  It’s not going to be the easiest thing to do, I’m guessing.  Oklahoma State is a member of the…MORE

What’s in a name?

What’s in a name?

I thought I was original.  Not quite, though.  On Saturday, the Boise State Broncos play the University of Connecticut Huskies at Albertson’s Stadium.  It’s a late game.  Kickoff isn’t until 8:15pm. I generally refer to the team as “Connecticut”.  A lot of other people call it “UConn”.  I’m not a huge fan of nicknames, cliches…MORE

BRONCO SEASON IS BACK… WITH ALL THE ALLITERATION!

BRONCO SEASON IS BACK… WITH ALL THE ALLITERATION!

Look!  It’s football season, and I’m blogging again.  It’s almost as if I wait for football to start and do little else the rest of the year.  Not so.  I do watch baseball. Anyway, game one for the Boise State Broncos this season is similar to last year’s opener, in that it’s the same opponent.…MORE

Memorial Day thoughts

Memorial Day thoughts

Last night, my son graduated from Capital High School.  That’s why my in-laws are in town.  Two came to Boise from Warrenton, Virginia, and two from Fairfax, Virginia.  Both towns are just minutes from Washington, DC. I recommend that every American visit Washington, DC if it’s within your means to do so.  See the Capitol,…MORE

What Mom Taught Me

What Mom Taught Me

Mother’s Day is this Sunday.  The most important thing my mother ever taught me was how to censor myself.  I don’t mean that she told me not to swear.  She did, I’m sure, but it wasn’t a subject that came up very often.  We weren’t a swearing family.  Swearing was something that some people did…MORE

Effective Multi-tasking

Effective Multi-tasking

I’ve multi-tasked my entire life.  I never thought of it that way, but technically that’s what I do.  Despite what doctors recommend, I’ve always read myself to sleep.  When I was a kid, probably from age two to eighteen, my mother would check on me before she went to bed, and every night, she would…MORE

670 KBOI GUEST BLOG: Governor Brad Little

Biden’s vaccine mandate is not the solution By Governor Brad Little Americans are deeply divided on COVID-19 and the response to it. Public health has turned political, there’s no doubt about it. But the situation playing out in hospitals across the country isn’t up for debate. There are more patients in need of critical care…
