BSU celebrates 38 years of BLUE

Boise State is celebrating 38 years of blue on Friday.

On this date 38 years ago BSU played its first home game on the now iconic blue turf.

BSU reports that the first game held on the blue was against Humboldt State, now known as Cal Poly Humboldt.

The game ended as a 74-0 win for the Broncos.

That game would go down as BSU’s largest margin of victory to date and as the most number of points scored on the Blue.

CBS2 reports BSU also took the opportunity to clear up some misconceptions that have become popular myths among Bronco fans.

The NCAA did not ban non-green artificial turf after learning of the blue turf at BSU, and Ducks do not mistake the blue as a lake and crash land onto the turf.
