Skylar Meade was transported to Nez Perce County today (Thursday) to answer for the murder of James L. Mauney.
In a coordinated effort, multiple law enforcement agencies successfully managed the secure transportation of Skylar Meade from Ada County where he had been held and sentenced for his participation in escaping from the custody of the Idaho Department of Corrections.
Idaho State Police report this operation was planned to prioritize safety and ensure the successful transport of the defendant.
Skylar Meade, classified as a high-risk, high-threat prisoner, had already pleaded guilty to planning and executing a prison break on March 20, 2024.
During his escape, he is alleged to have murdered 83-year-old James L. Mauney and a second individual in Clearwater County.
On June 11, 2024, Meade was formally indicted in Nez Perce County for the murder of James Mauney.
Nez Perce County Prosecutor Justin Coleman said now we can continue our work to hold him accountable for his crimes in our County.
