One man dead following standoff on Chinden Blvd.

 

The suspect involved in a standoff with police on Chinden Boulevard is dead.

Police say the pursuit began in Caldwell but then went into Ada County where he pointed a gun at Meridian officers who were deploying spike strips. Police used a pit maneuver to get his vehicle to stop.

CBS 2 News reports, a standoff ensued along the busy stretch of roadway until the suspect, who has not yet been identified, shot himself.

Police issued a code red 911 to folks in the area. Chinden Boulevard was closed for several hours Wednesday between Ten Mile and Black Cat roads.

It’s unclear what prompted the pursuit.
