Boise woman gets 30 years for DUI crash that killed 3-year-old

A Boise woman was sentenced to serve up to 30 years Friday after causing a crash that killed a 3-year-old.

Anna Mihelich, 54, will serve her term in prison for aggravated driving under the influence of drugs.

CBS2 reports on July 2 in 2019, Mihelich was driving on Orchard Street near Diamond Street when she collided head-on with another car. The crash injured all four people in the car, including a 3-year-old girl who died in the crash.

Mihelich was charged with four counts of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs. In July, she pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated DUI.

Her sentence includes seven years fixed before being eligible for parole. The defendant will also have her driver’s license suspended for 10 years.

“I give my condolences to the family, and I also appreciate their strength during this case,” said Jan M. Bennetts, Ada County Prosecutor. “Thank you to the Boise Police Department for their thorough investigation in this crash.”
