The highest number of new cases in Idaho to date came on Saturday with 577. There were 974 cases reported over the weekend.

CBS2 reports Idaho has essentially reported over 200 new cases daily, some reaching well into the 300’s and 400’s, since June 24.

Idaho is reporting 102 deaths. One of the most recent deaths reported came from the medical community; a pediatric nurse practitioner who worked in pediatrics at St. Luke’s died from complications of COVID-19.

A St Luke’s spokesperson said Samantha Hickey, of Caldwell, was a valued member of the St. Luke’s Children’s team, who provided dedicated & compassionate care to children in the greater Canyon County area for 15 years.

The Idaho Statesman reports Samantha’s husband & 4 children say she wanted to make a difference. They believe she would want her death NOT to be in vain, but serve as a stark reminder that people must do whatever they can to protect themselves & others and take the COVID-19 pandemic seriously.
