New hands-free law in Idaho goes into effect today

Today is a big day in Idaho, as some new laws will go into effect.

Idaho drivers go hands-free starting today – July 1st.

That means, no more holding devices while behind the wheel.

The new Idaho State code prohibits all use of devices while driving. That includes while stopped at a red light or stop sign.

The law, HB 614, makes it illegal to hold a phone while driving a vehicle; in every city in Idaho. No one is exempt.

However, law enforcement will be offering warning to drivers until next year.
