Idaho has announced its first three deaths in the coronavirus pandemic.
Two Blaine County residents and one Canyon County resident — all men over the age of 60 — have died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
The deaths were reported in a press release from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare this (on Thursday) afternoon.
The announcement came 13 days after Idaho announced its first confirmed coronavirus case.
The Idaho Statesman reports the cases involved a man over 60 from Blaine County, a man over 80 from Blaine County and a man over 70 from Canyon County.
The Canyon County man had underlying health issues. It’s unclear whether the other two did.
As of 1:30 p.m., there were 148 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Idaho, as reported by the seven health districts in Idaho.
Idaho is the 41st state with a death, according to New York Times research.
Blaine County, in the Sun Valley area, leads the state with 66 cases. Canyon County has 13. Ada County has 39.
Johns Hopkins reports that 79,785 people in the United States have contracted coronavirus and 1,124 have died today.
Idaho Gov. Brad Little issued a 21-day, stay-home order to the state yesterday.
