Boise School Board Unanimously Approves Replacing “Braves” Mascot

The Boise School Board unanimously approved replacing the Boise High School “Braves” mascot with the Boise “Brave.”

The decision was made at the Board’s monthly meeting last night (Monday).

The decision was made after a number of alumni and students spoke to the school board.

Boise High leadership worked directly with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes to more fully understand the history and the concerns regarding offensive Native American imagery and mascots.

CBS 2 News reports, changing uniforms and artwork around campus could take three to five years.
