Boise State Announces New President

BSU President, Dr. Marlene Tromp

Boise (670 KBOI News) – Boise State’s new president is not only an accomplished academic and administrative leader, she’s a native Westerner who already has a pair of Boise State cowboy boots.

That’s according to Board of Education member Doctor Linda Clark, who announced they had unanimously picked Marlene Tromp of UC Santa Cruz to take the reins of Idaho’s largest university.

Tromp said she couldn’t wait to get started.

“I want to help Boise State change more peoples’ lives,” said Tromp.  “I want to do the work this university has done, and continues to do.  I want to lead that effort, so we can do even more.  The City of Boise and the State of Idaho have already shown the nation what a new, innovative hub can look like.”

In addition to her post at UC Santa Cruz, Doctor Tromp has also served as Arizona State’s dean of the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. She takes over for Dr. Bob Kustra, who retired last year.
