On The Road Again

The sure sign that winter is over for the Schneider family is our annual trip to Arizona for spring training and generally hanging out around the pool. Spring training is big business in the state as thousands of people from the northern parts of the country head for the warmth.

I have been making annual treks to the Phoenix area every year since 1973. In those 41 years, we have had less than ideal weather only three our four times. Once it snowed while we were at the horse races at Turf Paradise. The next day it was 73 degrees. You see the same people here every March. We have watched families grow old, their kids grow up and have kids of their own. Many have bought winter homes here, or have moved to the Valley of the Sun permanently.

Our daughter Natalie has been here every year except one in her 21 years. She was in sunny Spain, but still complained because she missed Arizona.

The weather here in March is perfect. Highs this week range from 79 to 83. Most snow birds here watch the Weather Channel to see what the weather back home is like. Enjoy your 50 degrees and rain today. I think I will head out to the pool and read the paper. See you in a week.
