Winter Storm to hit the Treasure Valley this weekend

CBS 2 News Chief Meteoroloigst Roland Steadham says, the strongest winter storm of the season so far is poised to move into Idaho this weekend. This will generate periods of snow in the Treasure Valley with very heavy snow for the mountains.

Once the snow begins, the weather will remain unsettled and colder through the middle of next week. By the end of the weekend the Valley will see approximately 2-5 inches of snow. But, the mountains could easily see 2-3 feet of snow. Periods of snow will continue through Monday and this could possibly make the Monday commute very difficult.

We’ll see increasing clouds on Friday with the snow commencing Friday night or early Saturday. The temperatures Saturday will be borderline cold enough for snow. Regardless, we should see periods of snow on Saturday. While there can be a lull Saturday evening, another wave of snow should move in Sunday. I think the Sunday event has the potential to be more impressive as colder air slowly begins to wrap around the low that will set up in the northwest. This will be followed by another wave of snow on Monday. It’s difficult to predict the exact timing as the storm is still evolving.
