The new Canyon County jail expansion “Pod Six” in Caldwell could be open before the end of the month.
To construct Pod Six, 28 trailers are being put together to form one building to house both maximum and minimum-security female inmates.
Construction is on track for the $12.5 million temporary facility to open by the end of December but a training period will be needed for general staff to learn the procedures of Pod Six.
CBS 2 News reports, the county has been unable to convince Canyon County residents to fund a new jail but Pod Six will give the county breathing room.
