A Former Employee of Saint Alphonsus Indicted for Wire Fraud

A woman from Horseshoe Bend who had worked for St. Alphonsus Health System for 22 years, has been indicted for wire fraud.

The Idaho U.S. Attorney’s office reports a federal grand jury has indicted Lois Soito on ten counts of wire fraud, after information was uncovered by St. Alphonsus Health Systems that prompted an investigation.

From at least 2005 until January 2019 it’s alleged that Soito defrauded St. Alphonsus out of at least $1 million through various means.

The attorney’s office says in one instance, Soito is also believed to have taken cash from the Festival Of Trees, under the guise of depositing it into the proper bank account…but she allegedly kept the cash and substituted miscellaneous checks for the deposit.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Boise Police Department.
