Boise (670 KBOI News) – Boise’s Urban Renewal Agency, the Capital City Development Corporation, says it’s new so-called “bike garage”, at what used to be called the Eastman Garage, will provide secure parking for as many as 42 bikes…at a cost of $150,000.

BoiseDev.com publisher Don Day says CCDC wanted to provide a more secure method of locking up bikes than just the typical bike rack.

“The facility is keycard access only, it has security cameras and lighting, and then inside it has secure racks to lock your bike to, and there’s things like tools inside, even some outlets for e-bike chargers,” said Day.  “The facility altogether cost the CCDC about $150,000.”

The garage will be free to use for the rest of the year, and $7 a month starting in January.

At that rate, it will take 42 1/2 years to pay off the facility…if all 42 racks stay rented out continually.
