Meridian City Council approved new Costco design

The Meridian City Council approved the design and elevation of a Costco Wholesale proposed for the southwest corner of West Chinden Boulevard and North Ten Mile Road.

The design and elevation was originally heard July 24 when the council asked Costco staff to bring back another design that took nearby neighbors’ requests into consideration.

CBS 2 News reports, the amended designs had more outdoor seating spaces, greenery and earth tones. The architects also removed the iconic red stripe entirely from the building and replaced the metal exterior of the building with stone.

The council approved the Costco Wholesale application at a well-attended meeting in April, with the caveat that developers bring conceptual design and building elevations to the Council as an amendment. The council denied the original conceptual elevations.
