Idaho Power Releases 70K+ Rainbow Trout in Snake River

Boise (670 KBOI News) – Don’t tell anglers it’s getting cold…fall is a great time for fishing, because when the temperature drops, less hardy fishermen get off the water, which means more fish for the rest.

Idaho Power is helping hardcore fishermen out…they stocked more than 70,000 rainbow trout along the Snake River last week.

Spokesman Brad Bowlin says they’re not catch and release fish, either.

“These fish are released with the intent that people will go out and catch them, then take ’em home and fry ’em up,” said Bowlin.  “Most of them are 10-12″, and of course, some of the fish we released back in the springtime,  maybe in previous years, those are also still swimming around out there.  They can get up to be quite a bit larger.”

Most were released into CJ Strike Reservoir, near the Cottonwood and Jack’s Creek access points. More were released near Bell Rapids and Centennial Park near Twin Falls.

Bowlin adds that if you catch a fish with a metal jaw tag, call and report it to Idaho Power…you will be entered for a $1,000 drawing.  Click here for more information.
