Man arrested after trying to run down Nampa Police Officer with car

Last night, about 11:30pm, Nampa Police Officers responded to a verbal altercation between a man and woman, on North Liberty Drive.

When officers arrived on scene, the man took off in a vehicle. A Police Officer located the vehicle a few minutes later on South Elder Street. As the officer was approaching the vehicle on foot, the driver, now identified as Jacob Brent, sped and swerved toward the officer attempting to strike him.

The officer fired multiple rounds, striking the vehicle, but not the suspect.

Officers pursued the suspect vehicle which then crashed through a metal gate on Amity Avenue, entering the Northwest Nazarene University campus. Brent eventually abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended after a short foot chase.

Brent has been charged and booked into the Canyon County Jail on multiple felony counts, including aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of a controlled substance, DUI, and resisting arrest.
