Drone use forces temporary flight restrictions around the Rattlesnake Creek Fire

The U.S. Forest Service says a drone that violated the temporary flight restrictions around the Rattlesnake Creek Fire forced its air crews to shut down Saturday.

Helicopters had been assisting ground crews with water drops along the fire’s perimeter.

The Forest Service says the drone posed a safety risk to both its air and ground crews.

The Rattlesnake Creek fire has burned 7,997 acres south of Riggins along the Highway 95 corridor, causing evacuations in the Pollock area.

CBS 2 News reports, the fire is currently 28% contained. 455 people are fighting the fire.
