New Software Roll Out Causes Slowdowns at DMV Offices

Boise (670 KBOI) – The Idaho Transportation Department says they appreciate your patience while they get used to the new software they rolled out at DMV offices across the state last Thursday and Friday.

The new software led to slowdowns today, especially in the more populated counties like Ada and Canyon.

Spokesman Reed Hollinshead says like any other office deploying new software, there is a learning curve.

“We’re just encouraging folks to, if they don’t have to do transactions this week, while staff is getting up and running, and familiar with the new software, to put it off until later in the week, or next week,” said Hollinshead.  “But if you have to come in tomorrow, just be aware that there could be a bit of a slowdown.”

The slowdowns were with drivers’ licenses…both regular and CDLs. Hollinshead said in some cases, imaging didn’t work, and in others, transactions didn’t process the way they should have.
