Worthington BLOG: Closing in on Football season 2018

Closing in on Football season 2018

Amazing returning players. Terrific facilities. Epic recruiting. Put all those things together and you get HIGH EXPECTATIONS!

That is exactly what Boise State will be shouldered with as they move into the Pre-season phase of this season, which kicked off today (7/24/18) at the 2018 Mountain West Football Preseason Summit in Las Vegas.

Before things even really got started, the Broncos were a unanimous first-place pick to win the Mountain Division, garnering all 22 first-place votes available. I mean, why not? Boise State has been predicted to win the Mountain Division the last five seasons. Also, because the Broncos are LOADED coming into 2018 with 18 starters returning from 2017, including six on offense and 10 on defense.

The biggest reason to expect big things this year is Senior QB Brett Rypien, who is the Preseason MW Offensive Player of the Year.

By the way, Fresno State was picked to win the West Division, but San Diego State is expected to compete too.

While we mostly will be rooting for Boise State to dominate, a big part of me hopes Wyoming or Colorado State steps up and gives the Broncos a reason to play hard. If they run away with the Division untested, those big games at the end of the season could be less that certain.

Halloween Blog: Candy Corn – YUCK! By Rick Worthington 10/31/19 Let me just go ahead and get this out of the way. Candy corn is gross. If you give out candy corn on Halloween, kids are leaving your house upset. Little Jimmy and Suzzy are complaining to Mom and Dad, and your neighbors are embarrassed…

I Love Mike Kasper…But Sometimes He’s Just…Wrong

While some may celebrate Meridian’s dedication to automotive safety by passing a “Hands Free Ordinance”, I do not. Driving any automobile is dangerous. Distractions are abound. Be it inside or outside the car. Screaming kids, eating, makeup application, shaving, pets, and your radio (not us, everyone else) to name a few from the inside. Then…

Isn’t It About Time We Ban Hand Held Devices While Driving in Every Idaho City?

After weeks of debate and public hearings, The Meridian City Council has approved an ordinance that prohibits the use of mobile devices and cellphones while driving within Meridian city limits. The ordinance passed Tuesday night (10/22). But it didn’t pass easily. It required Mayor Tammy deWeerd to cast the tie-breaking vote. The ban goes into…
