Idaho Emergency Management Exercise Tomorrow at Borah High

Boise (670 KBOI News) – As you’re driving around in the neighborhood of Borah High School tomorrow, don’t be alarmed if you see a lot of police and emergency vehicles there.

The Idaho Office of Emergency Management, along with the Transportation Security Administration and other agencies, will be conducting an emergency training exercise from 8:00 tomorrow morning, ’til 3:00-ish tomorrow afternoon.

OEM spokeswoman Elizabeth Duncan says this will be a hands-on exercise, as close as they can make it to a real-world scenario.

“It’s supposed to be a learning experience for how, as a state of Idaho employee, or in the case of the TSA, you would best react if you encounter an assailant in a public place,” said Duncan.

Roads around Borah High will be open all day, but she says ITD will have some reader boards out, advising drivers there is emergency training going on at the school.  She says if you live in the area and see a heavy presence of police and first responder vehicles, don’t be alarmed…it’s only training.
