Defense claims priest facing child porn charges won’t get fair trial in Boise

The defense attorney representing a former Boise Catholic priest accused of possessing thousands of files of child pornography and a litany of illegal drugs has asked for a change in venue, saying his client will not receive a fair trial in Idaho’s 4th Judicial District.

Thomas Faucher, (foe-shea) is charged with 21 counts of possessing child pornography, as well as drug charges, related to the marijuana, LSD and ecstasy that police say they found during a February search of his home, just before his arrest.

The Idaho Press reports, Faucher’s attorney filed a motion asking the judge to move the trial to a different district, or empanel a jury from outside the 4th Judicial District. F

The judge has not yet ruled on the motion.

The trial is set for Oct. 15th but Faucher is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 28th for a pre-trial conference.

Meanwhile, he remains in the Ada County Jail, with his bail set at $1 million.
