Boise (670 KBOI News) – If your daily commute includes the Cloverdale Overpass at I-84, you’re going to have to take a different route for a while.
Jake Melder with ITD says the multi-vehicle crash and fire Saturday night weakened one section of the span, so they had to close it.
“We deem it was safe for traffic to go underneath it, on I-84, but the damage caused by the fire is just not going to allow for safe travel for any traffic on the bridge itself,” said Melder. “So we’ve closed it down for now, and it will remain closed until we are able to make complete repairs.”
He didn’t know how long that’ll be, but did say that it wasn’t the entire bridge that will have to be replaced, just the one section that was exposed to the fire for a long time.
