Low Cost Health Screenings Available Thursday at Whittier Elementary School

Screenings for HIV, hepatitis C and depression are among free services offered at a comprehensive community health screening from 4 to 7 p.m. tomorrow (April 19) at Whittier Elementary School.

Basic physical and dental exams, screenings for traumatic brain injury and flu shots while supplies last are included in the full screening, which takes about 90 minutes.

The Meridian Press reports, participants in immediate need are given appointments at a low-cost or for free at Treasure Valley clinics for additional care. The Idaho Foodbank will provide free boxes of food for participants.

The Community Health Screening Program began in March 2010 to provide early intervention and preventive care for underserved and uninsured adults.

The screening is sponsored by ISU-Meridian in partnership with Ada County, Central District Health, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, the Idaho Foodbank and Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho.
