A local businessman, Zach Brooks, is running for the Idaho State Senate in District 11 next year.
Brooks, who grew up west of Kuna. He and his wife Tiffanie have four children.
The Idaho Press Tribune reports, Brooks says he has been disappointed that the Legislature decided to raise taxes and increase spending when budget surpluses have exceeded $100 million. He said excessive taxation and over-regulation hurts farmers and small businesses.
Over the past year, Brooks has also served as Chairman for the Idaho Second Amendment Alliance.
