Colleges to offer drone piloting classes

Colleges will soon offer drone piloting classes.

The Treasure Valley Community College and North Idaho College will offer classes on piloting unmannered aerial vehicles to train people for jobs in the growing commercial drone industry.

The Capital Press reports classes will be offered every other month or depending on demand.

The Federal Aviation Administration removed a requirement that drone operators also be licensed to pilot manner aircraft and the new rule allows someone to be certified through a 16-hour course and a test.

Drones are now being used for several tasks like precision agriculture and poised for even more of an expansion.
